Here come the bingo days of autumn!
Bingo at the Congregation takes place every Monday evening, starting October 1. An enjoyable evening of bingo is open weekly to the community of Marco Island
The Jewish Congregation of Marco Island
The Jewish Congregation of Marco Island, Florida ushers in its annual bingo evenings. The Bingo Committee co-chair Sue Baum commented that the winning pots even include some large, left-over pots from last season! There are around 20 members on the Bingo Committee. They are all volunteers and happy to be hosting the game. The Committee members seem to have as good a time as the players themselves.
Free Yummy Supper
Every player receives a free kosher hot dog dinner, with sauerkraut, relish, pickles, onions, tea, coffee, fruit, pastry and ice cream. The evening begins at 5:30 PM. At 6:15 PM Bonanza is posted; and the game starts at 7 PM. The Committee stresses that Hot Ball offers extra cash. Yet more money is awarded through the Committee policy of rounding off winnings for multiple winners.
Players can distinguish Committee members from gamers by the Committee’s bright yellow aprons. Many of the individuals behind the weekly bingo events have served on the Committee since the inception of bingo games at the Congregation. Baum has said that the success of weekly bingo has been due in large part to the dedication and happy energy of the Committee members. The players and volunteers have long established a good rapport. The food is yummy and the service is great. At the end of every bingo night, there are no complaints, only smiles.
The Congregation’s goal in presenting weekly bingo is to provide great bingo evenings. If it’s bingo, this must be Monday!
