Bingo Should Get a Piece of the Pie

Horse racing tracks in Ohio are the only institutions that can operate video lotteries. Some argue that this is unfair to charitable bingo games because it create unfair competition with the tracks. Allowing bingo to operate video lottery terminals will create much needed money for charity.

Video Lottery Terminals

There is a bill in Ohio that says only horse racing tracks can use video lottery terminals. The Ohio Lottery will receive 33.5% of profits from these machines which equals approximately $933 million. Race tracks will keep the remaining 66.5%, or $2 billion, for their own profit. Some people say this creates unfair competition for the Ohio bingo games that raise money for charity. Bingo games are available around the state and the average person is able to participate in these games. Supporters of bingo halls using video lottery terminals say that they will give 50% of their profits to the Ohio State Lottery. In Ohio, there are about 2,000 bingo games and if each of these operated video lottery terminals then they would raise about $32 billion for the Ohio State Lottery every year.

Benefits of Video Lottery Terminals in Bingo Halls

Video lottery terminals will allow charity bingo games to raise $32 billion every year. These charities give aid to local communities and also allow other charities like the volunteer police and firefighters, aid for the uninsured, scholarship funds, rescue groups, animal shelters, senior citizen organizations, food panties, and the American Legion to also operate video lottery terminals to raise money for their charities as well. The Lottery Commission has studied charitable bingo games and shown that all of the money raised goes to charity. Video lottery terminals will also raise money for the Ohio State Lottery as soon as they start operating and not for an unknown date in the future when the race track estimates it will open. If bingo games and other charities were allowed to operate video lottery terminals then it would provide money for the needy in communities all around Ohio.

Bingo Strategies & Tips from Top Bingo Room Operators

The global popularity of bingo has surpassed industry expectations by a long stretch. Players are blessed with being able to play in two standard venues: traditional bingo halls and online bingo rooms. The latter category has seen a groundswell of support emanating from countries the world over. Bingo has shed its erstwhile image of a game for old fogies and it now holds the mantel of a game with a universal player base. Bingo is predominantly played across the United Kingdom. The traditional UK gaming favourite is 90 ball bingo, but the USA and Canadian favourite of 75 ball bingo is enjoyed too. By 2008, news reports suggest that bingo online players increased by over 80% over a 6-month period. Players have been asking the question: ‘What is needed to master this game?

News Report: Bingo Strategies Courtesy of Online Bingo Operators

The premier online bingo rooms pride themselves in keeping a contented player base. This bodes well for players and the community spirit engendered by online bingo rooms as much as it does for the revenue streams of online bingo rooms. The point of departure is the purchasing of bingo playing cards. It is thought that the more bingo cards purchased per game, the greater the likelihood of winning the bingo coveralls. The manner in which it works is relatively simple: numbers are called at random and they are automatically daubed by the computer. There are online bingo games that allow players to manually daub ‘mark’ their cards, but this is generally antiquated in the online arena. A series of hi-tech gaming systems at the world’s leading online bingo rooms allows players to keep track of the numbers called, their winnings and their bingo selections. This bodes well for higher levels of accuracy.

The Top Strategies for Succeeding at Games of Bingo Online

Among others, players will encounter incredible levels of competition when playing bingo online. This is due to the fact that online bingo gaming is so easy to play. There is no need to get dressed up to go out and play bingo. The bingo rooms online are instantly accessible to all players who are legally allowed to gamble. The leading online bingo rooms suggest that players follow basic gaming advice, including the following:

  1. Use the chat functionality of online bingo rooms. These are found in chat rooms, forums and the like. Oftentimes players will give candid opinions about games, online bingo rooms and the best deals.
  2. Play at top-tier bingo rooms when they are quietest. This allows you to compete with less players for the bingo pots.
  3. Opt-in for the more expensive bingo cards. This is a great way to move from ‘economy class’ to ‘first class’ in bingo games online. And it’s a great way of lowering the levels of competition.
  4. Engage in responsible gaming practices online and remember to play prolifically too. This guarantees an unbeatable online bingo experience.
  5. Play free bingo games online as often as possible. This is a terrific alternative to costly pay-to-play bingo games online. And there is zero risk and maximum reward.
  6. Select an online bingo room offering you the most generous bingo bonus and/or promotional offers. Your patronage comes at a premium.

Bingo: Raising Money for the Homeless

TCU students and Christ Chapel church have joined together to raise money for the homeless. Their event called Bingo and Bagels is a meeting that takes place every week in order to reach out to the homeless. The goal of Bingo and Bagels is to provide the homeless with food as well as emotional support.

Giving Back

A group of students have offered their assistance to Christ Chapel every week to provide breakfast and play bingo with the less fortunate members of Fort Worth, Texas. Melissa Ice, the College Missional Director of Christ Chapel, along with her husband Jamey put together the Bingo and Bagels event in June of last year. This event has been modeled after a similar event created by the Hub Ministry of Shreveport, Louisiana. Ice said the purpose of Bingo and Bagels was to build a solid relationship with the less fortunate in the Fort Worth community.

Inspired Students

Ciara O’Modhrain, one of the first TCU students to join the event, said she was moved by the event at the Hub Ministry and wanted to lend a helping hand to make a similar event in Fort Worth. O’Modhrain travelled to Shreveport to observe the Hub Ministry and in doing so was compelled to reach out to the homeless. Along with 8 other students, last summer O’Modhrain and fellow student Trevius Jones began to conduct meetings every Saturday at Unity Park with some of the members of the homeless community. This evolved into what is now called Bingo and Bagels which is held at Common Ground in Sundance Square. This event now is hosted on Thursday mornings with 30-40 volunteers. The students say the most rewarding aspect of this event is to be able to join in friendship and help rebuild relationships and dignity with those who are left homeless.
